Feeding the Ducks.

View of the walking bridge....this is the park in the middle of the town.

Another pretty view...

Ella, Brooke, Cam and Cindy heading off to find the ducks!

Feeding time!

My sister Cindy, her husband Greg, Brooke, Ella and Ben are visiting with us at the moment, which is fantastic for me as I love spending time with my sister ( and family) as much as possible.....

They have come for a bit of a break for the school holidays, to do a bit of shopping and catch up with friends. But on the days that they are not doing all those busy things you do when you are on holidays, I find that the kids tend to get bored pretty quickly and entertaining 5 very active children can be a bit of a challenge at times. Ahhh... what can we do? Then a brain wave........ a trip to the park to feed the ducks! That would be a good distraction.

After we got them all excited about the idea (which to be perfectly honest didn't take much) we dressed them in nice warm clothing... as you do at this time of year and armed with some bread for the ducks we walked down to the park. Now, it usually takes about 15 mins to get to the park from our house and we thought that walking would be a great idea so we could tire them out and maybe they would have a quite afternoon ( all part of the plan... don't you just love being the parent!).

As you have probably read we live in a little town called Strathalbyn in the Adelaide Hills and for those that haven't visited here yet it is well worth the detour off the freeway to see the very pretty sights, fantastic antique shops and maybe have a coffee in one of the cafes, so if you get time and have the chance to visit this sleepy little village... do so, you won't regret it.

Anyway back to the ducks...... I think they succeeded more in scaring most of them off than actually feeding them, but they had a good time anyway. Cindy and I sat back watching them throw the bread to the ducks and then Cin leaned towards me and whispered " Look at them, they throw like girls!" all very well for her.... she has girls!! Maybe it is time we practiced throwing!

Absolutely all part of the plan! Any extra part to the outing that you can add to tire the kids out more is well worth it.

I'll bet Cam has loved having some girls to play with? They look young enough to mostly idolize him and want to do anything/everything that he is doing - very sweet.

I love to catch up with my sister too and am fortunate that she only lives 20min away (having lunch tomorrow actually) - so I can imagine that you value the time with her lots!

Enjoy your socializing and family time.
