Esty Inspired # 45....and A Birthday Wish!

This weeks Esty Inspired challenge store is The Daily Pincushion. They sell all these really cute pincushions made from felt, which they sell as well! You should drop on over to see them they have the cutest pincushions!! This is the one that I chose for my inspiration....Well mainly the colours.....

And this is my card....

I have used Graphic 45 DP and a Hero Arts blossom stamp... Oh, and the sentiment is a SU one from the Garden Whimsy stamp set.

Love this stamp!

I also wanted to say a very Happy Birthday to my long suffering sister Cindy ...It seems, just lately, my little sister thinks that I am omitting her from a lot of my posts! Sorry honey....My bad! Cindy is not only my sister, she is one of my best friends...And she knows everything about me, but she still loves me anyway... I wanted to mention she was one of the main reasons that I wanted to visit the South East AND that she gave me $50 to buy a beautiful bracelet for my birthday....There! Happy now!

Love you Honey.....

Holiday Snaps...

I look at this post and think to myself...I have put way to many photo's on here, but what are you gonna do?! So I will not ramble on and on I will just tell you who, why and when...deal?
This is Em, Ryan and Cam at the Naracoorte Caves Entrance...In front of the big wombat looking thing that roamed around the place thousands of years ago...

This is my not so very good photo in the caves....The kids loved the caves!

Ryan and Cam looking over the big sink hole that is right smack in the middle of Mount Gambier...

Cam, Ryan, Ella, Emily and Brooke. I just thought this was cute!

Cam, when we went to see The Blue Lake.... Remember how I told you it was a dormant volcano...

My version of the photo that I put on in an earlier post.... This is the pumping station and some of the lake...

This is the tower on the tallest part of the volcano...You can walk right up to the very top of it...Well, you could when I was a little girl. We didn't go because 1. I could just imagine us all getting caught in the rain and 2. It's a really steep hill...come on!

The kids climbing the face...

The Lake.

Em....Looking very cute!

Ella...without her two front teeth!

Cindy and Ella... Love this photo too!

This photo is of one of the many sink holes aroundMount Gambier...It is call Umpherson's Cave after the man who fell in it...I mean found it! Lots of weddings happen here and it is really beautiful in spring, we will have to come back!

Wendy...Don't kill me honey...I like this photo!

Em, Cam and Ryan. As I said these are only just a few of the photo's I took...But I would be here all day if I put the rest on.....

"Greeting Farm" Special TTIC Colour Challenge...

Ok, so how cool is this!! (she sighs! I love being a Twilight Tuesday GDT Member).... For a special treat this week Twilight Tuesday is teaming up with The Greeting Farm to help celebrate the realise of their new "Edward" stamp. Not only do we get to play with this incredibly cute stamp, check it out.......

Margie thought of a great challenge for us to do as well.....

Creative Portion: Create a piece using the "classic" Twilight colour scheme of red, black and silver, and you must use a Greeting Farm Stamp to play along....

Comment Portion: So many of us turn to these classic colours for our Twilight projects (all the time!) which are clearly inspired by the cover of the books. However, we'd like to know if you have other favourite colours you like to use for your Twilight projects. If you do go on over to Twilight Tuesday and leave a comment...I personally would love to hear what colours other people love to use!!!

So, here's my card.....

I used Jenni Bowlin paper for this challenge...You all know how much I love her DT papers... And stamped the sentiment with a saying from the Artful Inkables Fictionally Inspired Set.

You know what the best thing about this challenge was? Edward's hair...OME! I just loved colouring in his hair and it didn't turn out too bad either!

...And because I thought Silver was lacking on the card I added Silver buckle on too!

Please head on over to Twilight Tuesday and checkout all the info on The Greeting Farm because they have the most gorgeous stamps....

Also see what the ladies have done.....

Alison ~ Beth ~ Jen ~ Julie ~ Tonya ~ Jacquie ~ Margie ~ Dani ~ Eve

Just one more thing...If you are going to play along with us, while your at Twilight Tuesday please have a read of the guidelines and all about the fabulous Blog Candy we have to give away!

TTIC #38 - Bella and Edward's Honeymoon...

"Bella and Edward's Honeymoon"

This week's Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge is by the beautiful and
very talented Dani....

"This week's challenge we will focus on the honeymoon scene from Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. If you haven't read this book beware there are serious spoilers ahead...

"I'm nothing if not thorough" - Edward Cullen, Breaking Dawn, Chapter 5, pg 78.

" He didn't ask me what I was thinking, which was out of character for him. I guessed that meant he was just as nervous as I suddenly was." - Bella Cullen, Breaking Dawn, Chapter 5, pg 79.

Breaking Dawn has so many wonderful scenes and one of my favourites is the honeymoon that Edward took Bella on after they were married. What a romantic time for them. Alone on a tropical island...sigh. This is the stuff dreams are made of."

Challenges -

Craft:
Make something that you feel represents Edward and Bella's honeymoon.

Comment: Tell us about your honeymoon... (Just the sweet romantic stuff...Not too much info please!!). Did you go somewhere or see something special? Or did you hide out from the world and enjoy being with your new spouse? If you haven't been on a honeymoon, that's ok! Tell us about your dream getaway....

This week I thought I would do something a bit different and see how a canvas would work for this challenge....So off I went to get my copy of Breaking Dawn and tried to remember which scene I liked the best, and then this passage caught my eye...

"I promised we would try," he whispered, suddenly tense. "If...if I do something wrong, if I hurt you, you must tell me at once." I nodded solemnly, keeping my eyes on his. I took another step through the waves and leaned my head against his chest. " Don't be afraid," I murmured. "We belong together." I was abruptly overwhelmed by the truth of my own words. This moment was so perfect, so right, there was no way to doubt it. His arms wrapped around me, holding me against him, summer and winter. It felt like every nerve ending in my body was a live wire. "Forever," he agreed, and pulled us gently into deeper water.
-Bella Cullen, Breaking Dawn, Chapter 5, pg. 85.

So...I am still a little unsure about my canvases...I guess, I am still finding my style, which to me is half "scrapbooking" and half "painting".... But I thought, what the hey, and just went with what felt right.... And this is what I came up with...

I used the "Forever" out of the passage that I liked and then used that as my basis of inspiration..... I am still experimenting with using torn paper and paint together and trying to get it all to work... But I don't think it came up too bad....

Then I added some butterflies to give the canvas a more tropical island feel.

Well, I'm not Monet or anything, but I had fun creating it....

Now if you want to join in all the fun we just have a few guide lines for you to follow...

Back Next Tuesday....

Just a really quick post!
It's school holidays....And you know what that means! The kids get board, then they start to fight, then I start to get a bit cranky, then slightly peeved, then just down right annoyed! Don't get me wrong I love school holidays...Really love that I don't have to make school lunches, and I love spending time with the boys without the routine...But...It's the middle of winter, and it's raining and they start to niggle at each other! And that's when bad cranky Donna starts to appear....But then fate smiled at me in the form of my wonderful SIL....She asked to have Cam the second week and I jumped at the chance....

Amanda, Leon, Nathan. Tom and Lucy all live in Naracoorte and Tom and Cam are very close considering there is just 4 weeks between them in age.... Then Wendy and I were talking about how nice it would be to get away for a few days and then what seemed to be in about 5 minutes, we had arranged for Wendy, Ryan, Emily, Cam and me to go down to Mount Gambier and then drop Cam off to his Auntie on our way home..... We get a little holiday, I get to show Wendy where I was born, and I get to drop in on Susy as well! Perfect!

So I mostly wanted to post these pictures to show my you where about's I am going and what it looks like......

Looking at this map you can see where Adelaide is (we live 30 minutes away) and the little purple box is where we are going.....

This picture is of the Naracoorte caves....We are going there Saturday.

This is Mount Gambier...Where we are going to actually stay for a few days... It is a dormant volcano and the small city nestles around it!

And this is a close up picture of what the "Blue Lake" looks like.... I am going to be taking lots of pictures while we are away but they probably won't be as nice because it's supposed to rain the 4 days that we will be there...But still it will be nice to go....

So I will back on Tuesday, just in time to do my post for TT...Have a great weekend!

A Few Bits and Butterflies...

Here is just a few cards I have made over the last week...
You will have to excuse me, I have gone mad over butterflies so probably most of my work will consist of butterflies..... everywhere!

This first card I made using the paper I can't remember the name of.... But, I do know the stamps! The butterfly is of course Gel-a-tins...got to love those! The flourish up on the corner is from the Baroque Motifs stamp set from SU....(I borrowed some of Sharon's stamps before she went away on her month long camping trip!). And the little saying down the bottom is from Hero Arts... I stamped and embossed the butterfly twice with polysparkle embossing powder (because I am nearly out of clear) and then cut out one of the images and stuck it over the other image. Makes it look like it's flying...Well that's what I hope it looks like!

This second card I made for Julie for her birthday... (hope you like it honey!). The paper is from Crate Paper...I love their papers... The butterfly is from Gel-a-tins and the happy birthday is from StampIt. Again I stamped and embossed the butterfly twice...The little lace border was made with a Fiskars Border Punch.
I am loving the whole vintage look of my work lately and have decided to keep it...'cause it's working!!
